Tribes Hill Iroquois Seniors

President Bev Fox called the meeting of the Tribes Hill Iroquois Seniors to order and Chaplin Martha Hensel led members in the opening prayer, Pledge of Allegiance, and a poem "Take My Hand."

President Fox introduced Jennifer Moyer from the Office of the Aging who spoke on the 2014 calendar promotion that the OFA was selling as a fund raiser.

Vice President Katherine Downing called role with 36 members present.

President Fox welcomed back long absent members and announced the February birthdays: Marilyn Hotaling, Connie Niegoski, Janice DeJulius and Rose Garguilo. There are no anniversaries.

The secretary's report for Jan. 23 was accepted as read by Ruth Lais and Harriet Zurlo.

The treasurer's report was read and will be filed for audit.

Communications: Pat Schwartz read a thank you note from the Veterans' Hospital for the Christmas cards sent from club members.

Barbara Furman told members that the Office of the Aging was still collecting used cell phones and reported the next meeting will be Feb. 12 at the Montgomery County Jail.

Trips -- Pat Schwartz and Barbara Lampkin are presently working on a travel agenda for 2014 and asked members for suggestions of places they would like to go.

Sunshine -- Cards were sent to sick and long absent members.

Unfinished business -- There was no unfinished business.

New business -- There was not new business.

Social -- Joel Szabo and Roger Wilmot are making plans for a chili and toasted cheese lunch for Feb 6. Bingo will follow the luncheon.

A reading, "Stranger In My House," was presented by Barbara Lampkin.

The next club meeting will be Feb. 6.

Motion to close the meeting was made by Barbara Furman and Nancy Emmanule.

Martha Hensel closed the meeting with the Lord's Prayer, our closing prayer, and a thought for the day.

An auction followed the meeting with Joel Szabe as auctioneer assisted by Pat Collins and Bev Fox.

Anyone who is a Montgomery County resident, enjoys overnight and day trips, luncheons and wants to meet new people, make new friends and spend a delightful hour or so of games and camaraderie is invited to join the THIS.

The group meets every Thursday at 10 a.m. for social hour and 11 a.m. for the weekly meeting at the Tribes Hill Sacred Heart Church.
