Growing season ends in Adirondacks

OLD FORGE (AP) -- This week's cold snap has ended the growing season in parts of the Adirondacks.

The National Weather Service says a killing frost ended the growing season across northern Herkimer, Hamilton and Fulton counties early Tuesday morning. Temperatures fell into the upper 20s and lower 30s in those areas.

Indian Lake in the central Adirondacks recorded an overnight temperature of 29 degrees. Old Forge in Herkimer County recorded a 30-degree reading.
