Two Amsterdam women were charged with assault early this morning after stabbing and assaulting two male victims, Amsterdam Police said.

Police responded to St. Mary’s Healthcare just after midnight to a report of a male victim with a stab wound. The victim told police he was injured while trying to break up a fight on Glen Avenue.

Additional officers responded to the scene and found another male victim that had been stabbed and required medical attention. The second male victim was stabbed multiple times in the leg with a kitchen knife during a dispute with his girlfriend Jody Dove, the first woman arrested.

The second male victim then told police he was also struck in the head with a hammer by his girlfriend’s daughter, Christiana Owens, the second woman arrested.

Dove, 47, of 36 Glen Ave., was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony; and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

Owens, 21, of the same address, was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony.

Both male victims were treated for the stab wounds at St. Mary’s Healthcare and police said their injuries do not appear life threatening.

Both women were arraigned in Amsterdam City Court and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility instead of paying bail set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
