Tips from concerned residents helped Amsterdam police execute a search warrant on a home associated with marijuana and cocaine sales last night.
Police said they received numerous complaints from residents about the unusual amount of traffic coming and going from 6 Perkins St.
Officers searched the second-floor of that residence where they found Thomas Aldi Jr., 21, at home. He was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class B felony.
While police were executing the search warrant, two males arrived at the house and were interviewed by police on the scene.
Tyler Agosta, 21, of 222 State Highway 67 in Amsterdam, was arrested as a result of that field interview. He was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor, for possessing heroin.
In a separate matter, at about 9:45 p.m., officers initiated a traffic stop on Forbes Street and the driver of the motor vehicle was found to be in possession of “several baggies” of cocaine, according to police.
The driver, Moses Hopkins III, 39, of 243 Vrooman Ave., was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony. He was also charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a class A misdemeanor.
Aldi and Hopkins were held overnight for arraignment this morning. Agosta was issued an appearance ticket to appear in city court at a later date.
Additional arrests are possible and the investigation is ongoing.
