On Sept. 28, 1913, In a baseball game on the barge canal diamond, the Mohawks scored three runs each in the seventh and eighth innings and got a dominant pitching performance from "Rube" Moore to beat the All-Stars -- a team comprised of standout players from Amsterdam and Gloversville -- 6-0.
Moore struck out 12, and the Mohawks took the lead before the game was called after eight innings due to darkness.

On Sept. 24, 1938, the Amsterdam High School football team opened its season with a 7-6 victory over Mont Pleasant High School.
Amsterdam trailed 6-0 before taking the lead on a "Babe" Litwa touchdown pass and the ensuing pass for the point-after to give coach Axel Perman's team the victory.

On Sept. 28, 1963, the Amsterdam High School football team had its record dropped to 1-1 on the season thanks to a 20-6 road loss to Herkimer.
Amsterdam went up 6-0 in the second quarter on a 14-yard touchdown pass from Mike Krochina to Frank Derrico, but fumbles and mistakes cost Amsterdam as Herkimer rallied to score the game's final 20 points.

On Sept. 24, 1988 Billy Decker surged to victory in the 100-lap Fall Championship modified race at Fonda Speedway.
Decker, in the No. 91 car, passed Mike Romano for the lead on lap 44 and powered his way to the finish, holding off challenges from Ray Dalmata and Dave Lape to record what was his second big block victory at the Track of Champions.

On Sept. 26, 2003, the Amsterdam High School football team won a defensive struggle over Christian Brothers Academy, riding a Mike Altieri touchdown run and a 29-yard John Totzeck field goal to a 10-7 decision.
Altieri ran for 65 yards on 11 carries -- including his 4-yard touchdown burst set up by a pass from John Tesiero to Jesse Loucks that put the Rugged Rams in scoring position -- while Andrew Kinne ran of a team-high 82 yards.

On Sept. 27, 2008, the Fonda-Fultonville High School football team survived a frantic finish to beat Tamarac, 41-39, and barely avoid blowing a 31-point second-half lead.
Tamarac recovered a pair of onsides kicks to help rally from what was a 34-3 deficit, but after a 2-point conversion that would have tied the game failed, F-F's Tyler Hall recovered a last-gasp onsides attempt to seal the win. Hall had a huge game with 3 receptions for 103 yards and two touchdowns while also intercepting a pair of passes on defense. Braves quarterback Josh Nethaway finished 13-of-18 passing for 258 yards and four touchdowns while also rushing for a pair of scores.

On Sept. 27, 2012, the Broadalbin-Perth High School boys soccer team notched a key Foothills Council win over South Glens Falls, beating the Bulldogs 2-0 at Patriot Field.
Francesco Mastrocinque scored for B-P in the fifth minute when he knocked in a loose ball off a shot from Ben Bellandi, then Logan Ackley made a 40-yard run to beat South Glens Falls goalkeeper Josh Hay in the 28th minute.
