Mr. Valentino R. "Tino" Marrone, 85, of 1 Erie Terrace, Amsterdam died peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam on May 13, 1928 he was the son of the late Luigi and Josephine Marrone.

A lifelong city resident, Tino was a graduate of Amsterdam city schools. A truck driver by trade, Tino worked for Weber Construction and Calanan Industries. He was a 44 year member of Teamsters Union Local #294 where he served as Chief Shop Steward. Following retirement in 1992, Tino enjoyed a part time career as a driver with first the Betz Funeral Home of Amsterdam, and later Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home.

Tino was a member of the National Guard Company G and served proudly for many years as a rifleman. He was also a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church. Tino enjoyed gardening, hunting and golfing and was especially proud of his hole in one at Holland Meadows.

On November 6, 1948 he was united in marriage to the former Frances Wilsey. That union lasted nearly 65 years until her passing on January 18th of this year. He was also preceded in death by his son Michael F. Marrone on December 26, 1988; a son-in-law, James D. Marsh on July 18, 1997; and his siblings, Clara, Anna, Phillip, Earl, Alphonse, Philomena, Rose, Richard, Eugene and Leah.

Survivors include, one son, Mark A. Marrone of Hobe Sound, Florida; four loving daughters, Sandra A. Marsh of Stockton, CA, Tina M. Marrone of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Lori J. Hartig and her husband Jeff of Amsterdam and Pamela J. Marrone-Coons and her husband Larry of Amsterdam; a brother, Nicholas Marrone of Amsterdam; a sister, Virginia Glamm and her husband Richard of Perth; six grandchildren, Jessica, Jody, Ericka, Jared, Jaclyn and Michael. Several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive; and his beloved dog, Pixie.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 10:30a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 from 4 until 7p.m. at the funeral home.
