Mohawks' comeback falls short at Elmira

ELMIRA -- Chad Kalousdian lined two singles and a double and Andrew Nist added three singles to lead the Elmira Pioneers to a 7-6 victory over the Amsterdam Mohawks in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League game Thursday at Dunn Field.

Elmira (4-1) took a 6-1 lead into the seventh inning when Amsterdam rallied with two runs in the seventh, two in the eighth and one more in the ninth.

Ed Charlton highlighted Amsterdam's eighth inning with a two-run home run scoring John Nogowski.

Charlton finished the evening going 2-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Kyle Guthrie added a double and single and Nogowski had a double. Amsterdam finished the night with seven hits.

Amsterdam starter Dylan Dwyer took the loss.

The loss puts Amsterdam (1-4) at the bottom of the East Division -- three games in back of first place Albany.

Amsterdam returns home for a two-game homestand beginning tonight with a 7:05 p.m. tilt against Cooperstown. The Mohawks return home on Saturday with a 7:05 game against the Adirondack Trail Blazers.
