Bernice Cwirko, 98, formerly of Teller Street, Amsterdam died on Monday, April 1, 2013 a Harbor Chase of Venice in Venice, Florida.
Born on November 1, 1914 in Amsterdam, New York she was the daughter of Stanislaus and Julia Filipek Mycek.
Mrs. Cwirko was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School and was a lifelong Amsterdam resident until moving to Florida in 2008. She worked in the Amsterdam City Hall Treasurer's Office until retiring.
Mrs. Cwirko had been a member of St. Stanislaus Church and was a member of the St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary.
She married William G. Cwirko on June 15, 1941 and celebrated 61 years together. Mr. Cwirko died on January 16, 2003.
Survivors include her son, Ronald W. Cwirko and his wife Sylvia of Osprey, Florida; her grandchildren, Debra Budlong of Sarasota, Florida and Kevin Cwirko of Rome, New York; great grandson, Brandon; nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Cwirko was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Church.
Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Donations may be made in her memory to St. Stanislaus Church or Tidewell Hospice both in care of the funeral chapel.
