David Whitlock, 70, of Nelliston passed away March 26, 2013 in Cooperstown, NY after a long battle with lung cancer.
He was born December 24, 1942 in Harriman, TN to Edith Harrell Whitlock and Leonard Marian Whitlock, or as he liked to say "the only Christmas present his mom couldn't return." He married the love of his life, Loralee Alkinburgh Whitlock, not once, but twice.
David was proud of being a high-rise window cleaner in Dayton, OH and here in NY. He truly loved his work. He would sometimes describe his occupation as an "Indoor/Outdoor Window Beautification Expert." An avid fisherman, David loved to spend his free time with a line in the water. Lakes, rivers, or streams, they all excited him. David served in the Army and was a lifetime member of Amvets, Post 33 in Dayton, OH.
David is survived by his wife, Loralee; his mother, Edith Aiken, Dayton, OH; daughters, Darlene (Rick) Hemstreet, Haverhill, MA and Sharon (John) Schondelmeyer, Bellevue, NE; grandchildren, Katie (Rob) Andrews, Raleigh, NC, Kenton Steinhardt, Barcelona, Spain,; Christopher, Matthew, and David Nellis, Haverhill, MA; brothers, Roger (Melissa) Aiken, West Carrolton, OH,; Jimmie Aiken, Dayton, OH, Rick (Becky) Aiken, Jacksboro, TN,; sisters, Kathy (Joe) Harmon, Conyers, GA, and Connie Smith, West Carrolton, OH; aunt, Ruby Smith, Harriman, TN, cousin Barbara (Jim) Price, Oskaloosa, KS and many loved nieces and nephews.
David was predeceased by his beloved father, Ray Aiken and grandson Jeffrey Nellis.
Cremation took place at the Leatherstocking Crematory Inc. , Cherry Valley, NY.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
