Catherine Filanova Sinicropi Galluccio, Amsterdam, NY, passed away late Wednesday at the home of her daughter with her family by her side. She was two hours shy of her 99th birthday and passed after a brief illness.

Born in Washington, DC on March 13, 1915, the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Francesca Galati Filanova, she moved to Varapodio, Reggio Calabria Italy with her family as an infant and was educated there. Catherine was a devout Roman Catholic with a special devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel. She assisted with her village in Italy's yearly feast in their patron's honor. She was a parishioner of St. Michael's R.C. Church and was a member of the St. Anthony's Auxiliary, the St. Michael's Auxiliary, and now Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Catherine was given the honor of "prayer warrior" by her family, who could always count on her to pray on their behalf.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, spending time with family at Cape Ann and Myrtle Beach, weekly family poker games, the Hi-Lo Seniors and even recently, the Day Care program at Wilkinson. "What a wonderful legacy Catherine left behind, so much love for her family. She has influenced all of us in many different ways, and her memory will live forever".
