Joanne B. Lilliard, 63, passed away Sunday morning at the River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam with her loving family at her side.
She was born April 2, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York, and was the daughter of Florence L. Hargrave Bond and the late James Clayton Bond, Sr.
Joanne lived in Brooklyn until the age of fourteen when she moved to Middletown, NY and later moved to Amsterdam in 1984. She was a graduate of the Minisink Valley High School in Minisink, NY and after she attended Orange County Community College and later Schenectady Community College. For a short time she attended Pals Art College in New York City.
Joanne was employed as a toll booth collector for the New York State Thruway Authority until retiring a number of years ago due to ill health.
Before her illness she loved to form travel club bus trips for friends to play bingo. She started quilting and enjoyed the hobby so much that she eventually started the Quilt Gallery across from St. Mary's Church. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Amsterdam.
Joanne was an outgoing person with a terrific sense of humor. In her early years she loved to go horseback riding.
Survivors include her mother, Florence L. Bond of Amsterdam; a brother James C. Bond, Jr. of Amsterdam; a sister, Roxanne Bond of Manhatten, NY; one niece and one nephew Jamie Lynn Bond King and Jason Robert Bond; great nephew Jaxon Cruz Bond; cousin who was her big sister, Judith Brown Campbell; and several cousins.
She was predeceased by a nephew James Clayton Bond III.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at 2:00 pm at the United Presbyterian Church, 25 Church Street, Amsterdam with the Rev. James D. McLeod, Jr. officiating.
Cremation will follow at the Vale Cemetery Crematorium in Schenectady.
A calling hour period will take place on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church.
