Charges announced in fight at Amsterdam Walmart

Staff report

Five Amsterdam residents were arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, fourth-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct following an alleged fight at the Walmart in the town of Amsterdam last week.

Wednesday, 16-year-old Brittany, 32-year-old John and 37-year-old Tammy Bottomley were involved in an alleged altercation with 18-year-old Brianna Riley and 21-year-old Demontavius Collins.

One of the females in the fight allegedly had a baby with her during the episode, and, allegedly, a large bottle almost struck the baby during the fight. According to a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office -- which was assisted by units from the Amsterdam Police Department -- a Walmart employee had secured the 10-month-old baby during the alleged fracas.

The incident was reported to New York State Child Protective Services.

All parties were issued an appearance ticket for the charges and released.
